Man arrested after joyride in stolen LES van, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A man accused of taking a stolen Lincoln Electric System van on a joyride was arrested on Sunday.

Lincoln Police officers were called to the LES Service Center near 27th and Fairfield streets at 1:15 a.m. for a work van that had been stolen from the parking lot. Police said the van was left unlocked with the keys inside.

Based on witness interviews and security video, police determined a man jumped the fence, drove a van owned by LES through the parking lot without any lights on and then rammed it through an automatic fence at the lot entrance. LPD said the man caused an estimated $15,000 in damage…
