Man sentenced for fatally stabbing Lincoln woman in 2022

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A Lincoln man who stabbed his neighbor to death during an argument in 2022 has been sentenced to nearly two decades in prison.

Charles Alexander, 64, was originally charged with second-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. On May 5, he pled guilty to one count of manslaughter in a plea deal.

On Wednesday, a judge sentenced Alexander to 19 to 20 years in prison with credit for the nearly three years he’s already served in jail.

On Sept. 20, 2022, 36-year-old Jasimin Champion, of Lincoln, was stabbed in the neck at Contempo in the Highlands near North First and West Fairfield streets. She later died at a Lincoln hospital from her injuries…
