New details revealed after grand jury indicts former Nebraska deputy for manslaughter

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — A court hearing Tuesday revealed more details in the case of a former Seward County deputy accused of manslaughter.

Attorneys gathered in a Lancaster County courtroom Tuesday to discuss motions in 29-year-old Anthony Gann’s case. Gann was indicted by a grand jury on a single count of manslaughter in the shooting death of 43-year-old Jorge Luis Santana-Ramirez, of Hastings, on Oct. 23, 2023.

Gann’s attorney filed several motions in early June with the hopes of getting the case dropped or charge reduced. In a brief, the defense argued that the grand jury had been improperly briefed on use of force laws…
