Lincoln launches AARP-funded program to help seniors, immigrants use public transit

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and city officials have announced an almost $20,000 grant from AARP to improve public transportation access for older adults and non-English speakers in Lincoln.

The funding will support six free transit training classes hosted at Aging Partners and local cultural centers, with room for up to 90 participants. The city will also distribute 700 free ride passes.
