LES Offers Energy Conservation Tips During Extreme Heat

With temperatures soaring across southeast Nebraska, Lincoln Electric System (LES) is reminding residents how to stay cool and save money… without overloading their power bills.

LES spokesperson Kelley Porter said the public-utility is promoting a series of low and no-cost energy-saving tips during the current heat wave, which include setting thermostats to the highest comfortable temperature, keeping blinds closed during the hottest part of the day, and using small kitchen appliances instead of ovens.

“High temperatures can lead to higher energy usage and, of course, bills,” Porter said. “Even small steps like turning ceiling fans counterclockwise or caulking around windows can make a difference.”…
