‘Cornhuskers stand up’: Former Husker wins U.S. outdoor high jump title

EUGENE, Ore. (WOWT) – Nebraska track and field alum Tyus Wilson is officially a U.S. outdoor national champion.

The Sterling, Kansas, native captured gold in the high jump at the USATF Outdoor Championships on Sunday in Eugene, Oregon.

Wilson cleared 7 feet, 5.25 inches (2.27m) on his third and final attempt to seal the win. He was the only competitor to make that height, edging out Olympic silver medalist Shelby McEwen and 2024 Olympian JuVaughn Harrison, who both missed all three attempts…
