LPS says over 100 students are already identified as homeless ahead of the first day

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – According to the Nebraska Department of Education, in 2021, there were over 4,000 children who were experiencing homelessness in the Good Life State.

In Lincoln, the district said last school year, there were 853 students identified as homeless in their district; a staggering 40 percent of whom are staying in a shelter.

LPS said it’s the highest number of students since the homeless outreach’s inception in 2005…
