Lincoln, NE — This weekend, Lincoln welcomes athletes from the world of bull riding as the annual Bulls, Bands, and Barrels rodeo begins. The event will feature 20 professional bull riders, including Alex Goins.
“It’s kind of different from any other rodeo you’ll ever go to,” said Goins. “I would say that’s mainly because it’s fast-paced. As soon as you get there, that’s what your mindset should be on—bull riding, riding your bull, getting ready, and then they do an amazing job of making it real quick.”
Goins began mutton busting at just 3 years old and paused at 5, only to resume bull riding at 16 before joining the Army in 2019. “Throughout my army career, I kept riding bulls but not as much, and then I got out this year and it’s just been balls to the wall going every weekend.
