UNK has announced that they’ll be cutting $4.5 million from their budget over the next 2 years, according to a statement from Chancellor Neal Schnoor today.
The 4.5 million is part of roughly $20 million that the University system has to cut from their budget over the next two years. Nebraska-Lincoln will be cutting $27.5 Million over the two year budget period, and the university system announced last week a voluntary buyout program for tenured faculty.
In 2023, UNK had to cut $2.3 million from its budget under former chancellor Doug Kristensen, which resulted in the elimination of nine degree programs and 24.5 faculty positions…
