Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital has announced it will close its child care center in Lincoln at the end of October and will be eliminating 30 positions. In a statement to KLIN News, Madonna attributed the decision to growing costs to provide care and decreasing reimbursements.
“We know this is a difficult time for our team, and these decisions are never taken lightly,” the statement said. “Like all Nebraska hospitals, as well as health systems across the country, we are facing real challenges. These pressures are forcing us to take steps to ensure we can continue caring for our patients and communities well into the future.”
The positions being eliminated include the Child Development Center staff and other hospital support personnel. The hospital will still have a workforce of nearly 2,000. “These are some of the most difficult decisions we’ve ever had to make,” Paul Dongilli, President and CEO of Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals says. “We are deeply grateful for the service and dedication of each person impacted.
