Concordia University aids Seward community after severe storm

SEWARD, Neb. — Concordia University, Nebraska, is rallying to support the Seward community in the aftermath of a severe storm that struck on August 9, 2025. The storm, with winds exceeding 90 miles per hour, caused widespread damage, uprooting trees, snapping power lines and leaving many without power.

Despite the extensive damage to trees and some buildings on the Concordia campus, all students, faculty and staff were unharmed. In the storm’s wake, university faculty, staff and students quickly mobilized to assist their neighbors with cleanup efforts. Bulldog coaches led student-athletes from the football, soccer and volleyball teams in removing tree limbs from cars, homes and roadways.

Concordia students also assisted local businesses, including helping Kelley Limback, owner of Chapters Books & Gifts, relocate her inventory to a temporary storefront due to building damage…
