LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The first week of school for Lincoln Public Schools has wrapped up and everyone, from new and returning students to teachers, are getting back into the routine of a new year.
One the teacher’s side, the district welcomed more than 300 new educators this year. Rocking along to “We Didn’t Start The Fire,” Ms. Hilan Younis is moving from desk to desk, as students try to fill in historical events, similar to the famous headlines from Billy Joel’s classic song.
“I like to check in,” said Hilan Younis, seventh grade social studies teacher at Goodrich Middle School. “Make sure they’re doing it correctly. Make sure they know why they’re doing it.”…
