Lincoln Animal Control Responds to Two Hoarding Cases

Lincoln Animal Control says their officers responded to two separate animal hoarding cases this summer that ended with the rescue of over 30 animals. According to a Facebook post, officers responded to an apartment in northwest Lincoln in July.

Officers observed the floor of the apartment to be covered with animal waste. Lincoln Animal Control Manager Denise Bollwitt says upon further investigation, it was determined that the owner had also left several cats and a dog inside a camper that was parked in direct sunlight. The internal temperature of the camper was in excess of 100 degrees and there was no accessible water provided.

Between the apartment and camper, officers removed nine dogs and six cats. Bollwitt tells KLIN News the owner pleaded guilty to eight counts and was fined $950. She also says in August, dispatch received a report of an odor emanating from a hotel room. “Officers went inside and found animal feces and urine throughout the room.”…
