Back to School Delayed in Some Areas

Severe storms have been sweeping the nation all summer and it seems no area is immune. Most recently, heavy winds and rains have damaged schools in Nebraska, Wisconsin, and North Carolina, creating worry about back-to-school plans.

In Lincoln, Nebraska, severe winds and rain left 18 schools without power, while 15 experienced tree damage, and others had roof damage. According to 1011Now, cleaning and grounds crews have been working around the clock to repair the damages so they can welcome kids back to school on schedule.

Meanwhile, after record-setting rainfall created severe flooding throughout the Milwaukee area, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that water issues will impact students and staff for the upcoming school year. Multiple classrooms will remain out of use and some lockers will be unavailable as cleaning crews tend to the repairs necessary from standing water…
