A staff member at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) sustained serious injuries in an inmate assault Wednesday. Two inmates attacked the staff member in the yard, which required hospitalization for treatment of injuries, including a concussion, multiple broken bones and lacerations to the face.
While more NSP staffers were restraining the inmates, another employee was injured in the altercation.
“Violence toward staff members will not be tolerated,” said Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) Director Rob Jeffreys. “Those who choose to perpetrate these acts will be dealt with to the fullest of my authority.”…
