OPINION: New school year, new Union

With the fall semester in full swing, students have returned to campus for the new school year but this semester doesn’t feel the same. The Nebraska Student Union is currently under renovation, changing the staple spot for students at the university.

Earlier this year, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln announced the big changes that are coming to the Nebraska Union over the course of the next school year. These major changes include expanding Chick-fil-A, removing Steak ‘N Shake and Subway, adding a Husker Heroes and relaunching Imperial Palace with university management and a reduced menu.

While the renovations to the Nebraska Union are branded as a “better, faster, and more flexible dining experience” that is designed around what “Today’s Huskers want most,” the changes to the Union are nothing more than a big mistake…
