LES secures $300K from from Google to power affordable housing energy improvements in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln Electric System (LES) announced on Tuesday that it has received $300,000 in funding from Google to help scale energy-efficiency upgrades for affordable housing in Lincoln.

The funds will help support the City of Lincoln and LES’ South of Downtown Rental Rehabilitation program and will allow things like high-efficiency heat pumps, insulation improvements, smart thermostats, and other energy-saving tech to be installed in rental units that serve some of the city’s underserved communities.

LES CEO Emeka Anyanwu said, “We’re proud to partner with Google and the City of Lincoln to bring energy savings to the families in our community who need it most. These funds will help us continue making homes more comfortable, affordable and sustainable – one household at a time.”…
