Lincoln, NE — Maroon 5 is set to perform in Lincoln on October 28 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena as part of their “Love is Like” tour. Front man Adam Levine and lead guitarist James Valentine shared insights about their latest album and personal reflections in a recent interview.
Levine described the creative process behind the album as a “DaVinci code thing,” explaining, “I have to go back, cause it’s so stream of consciousness a lot of the times, I’ll throw a lot of things out there and try to make sense of it and put in the song. I’ll go back and be like ‘oh California like that also sounds like a very specific time in my life but I set out to write about that experience when I wrote the song.'”
He emphasized the band’s return to their roots by stepping away from songwriting collaborations. “At the end of the day, where it started was us as a band in a room making music, so that’s our roots. We made these songs together and we did these in a room, and now we put the songs out and they did really well so that was what we wanted to get back to at least for this one album,” Levine said. “I feel like it’s good to change up your experience of what writing is and kind of had to prove to ourselves we could do it again.”…
