LINCOLN–(KFOR Sept. 18)–Firefighters and LTU crews managed to get to the source of a water leak in the basement of a downtown Lincoln apartment building Thursday morning, which caused concern for residents.
LFR Battalion Chief Jeremy Gegg told KFOR News at the scene outside Century Plaza at 12th and Lincoln Mall it was originally thought the basement wall was crumbling with water building up. Some residents were evacuated. Turns out, the wall was not damaged, but it was determined the cause was the underground fire service main that suffered a failure and caused water to leak in the building.
The water did filter out into drains and it’s not clear how deep the water was during the incident…
