Murals, music and community celebrated at EMERGE LNK festival

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The streets of University Place came alive Sunday with paint, music and community spirit. The LUX Center for the Arts hosted the third biannual EMERGE LNK: Mural and Street Art Festival.

The festival, which began in 2021, has transformed the neighborhood with large murals and public art projects. Joe Shaw, executive director of the LUX Center, said this year’s event added even more color to the area.

“We started this festival in 2021,” Shaw said. “We created seven murals and we created a tourist destination out of nothing. In 2023, we made three more, and now in 2025, we are actually creating five murals when we were only supposed to make three.”…
