Feds approve disaster assistance for several Nebraska counties

The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Thursday that it has approved federal disaster assistance to help Nebraskans with recovery efforts from storms that hit the state Aug. 8-10.

A news release said counties eligible for the aid are Burt, Douglas, Fillmore, Lancaster, Nemaha, Nuckolls, Saline, Saunders, Seward, Thayer, Washington and Webster.

The release said federal assistance is available to state, tribal and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations to help pay for repair and replacement costs for facilities damaged by the storm…
