Experts Discuss Tariff Impacts on Nebraska Agriculture at Omaha Conference

At the Farm Management and Outlook Conference in Omaha in August 2025, Professor Matt Schaefer and colleagues from the Yeutter Institute discussed the impact of recent tariffs and trade agreements on U.S. and Nebraska agriculture. The panel included Director Jill O’Donnell, Acklie Chair Ed Balestreri, and Non-Resident Fellow Kellie Mieman Hock.

Professor Schaefer explained the legal basis for new tariffs. He cited Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, Sections 301 and 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
