A group of University of Nebraska-Lincoln professors is challenging Chancellor Rodney Bennett’s proposed $27.5 million budget cut, saying the university is in “strong financial health.”
UNL’s chapter of the American Association of University Professors cited a report conducted by Bonnie Fox Garrity, a national AAUP financial analyst and professor of business at D’Youville University, in a press release on Friday.
UNL’s AAUP chapter said the university system’s finances are strong, pointing to NU’s investment, which totals nearly $7 billion, in addition to its S&P Global ‘AA’ bond rating, a scoring system of large organizations and governments of their finances.
