Kelsey Howard is from O’Neill, Nebraska. She is majoring in Animal Science and minoring in the Krutsinger Beef Industry Scholars Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). She expects to graduate in December 2025. Kelsey chose UNL because of its programs in animal science and beef production. She joined the Krutsinger Beef Industry Scholars Program to find a supportive community, expand her network, and learn more about the beef industry.
Kelsey has attended CattleCon in San Antonio, Texas, and participated in an industry tour in Colorado as part of the program. These events gave her the chance to observe different parts of the beef industry and meet professionals in the field. During the Colorado tour, she visited feed yards, packing plants, a direct-to-consumer feedlot, and a seedstock operation. These visits helped her connect classroom lessons with real-world practices.
The Beef Scholars program has helped Kelsey prepare for her future career. She has built a professional network and gained a broader understanding of the beef industry. The program has also improved her communication skills and given her ideas on how to contribute to the industry after graduation…
