LINCOLN–(KFOR/Nebraska Examiner Oct. 31)–Prison time for a key associate in a real estate scheme for trying defraud banks and other financial institutions out of millions of dollars.
In U.S. District Court on Thursday, 35-year-old Jesse Hill of Hickman was sentenced to five years behind bars for his role in working with Lincoln businessman Aaron Marshbanks to defraud nearly 20 Nebraska banks into loaning money to Marshbanks for alleged real estate ventures that totaled over $30-million. According to the Nebraska Examiner, part of the proceeds were used by Marshbanks to begin building a multi-million dollar luxury home and barndominium complex on the eastern edge of Lincoln, a home since sold in an attempt to pay back a portion of a bank loan.
Marshbanks, a former member of the Lincoln Christian School Board and a former star athlete at that school, was found dead inside a downtown Lincoln parking garage in November of 2022 after overdosing on a trio of drugs…
