During November and December the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will be partnering with Kicks for Kids Nebraska, a local nonprofit organization that has provided news shoes for elementary school students in Lincoln since 2011.
It’s part of LSO’s annual charitable giving campaign. Public Information Officer Kelsey Cruz says employees can donate $50 to receive dress and grooming provisions. “Professional staff can wear casual dress, male deputies can go no shave November (December) and female commissioned deputies can wear a ball cap.”
Cruz says it’s a fun way to unite their team behind a cause that directly benefits children and families in the community. Kicks for Kids board member William Boucher says the nonprofit got started after they received a call from a teacher. “She was noticing she had kids who had shoes that weren’t appropriate for the time of year,” Boucher says. “Shoes held together by duct tape or wearing sandals in snow.”…
