Brett Klein chose to join the United States Army after high school, serving four years of active duty and one year in the Minnesota National Guard. He said his time in the military taught him about himself and the world, and he noticed changes in himself after leaving the service.
After his military service, Klein worked as an EMT for two years, using his experience as an army medic. He later decided to attend college and enrolled at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He plans to graduate in December 2025 with a degree in accounting. Klein said visiting the campus helped him feel comfortable with his decision.
Klein received support from the Military and Veteran Success Center and the UNL chapter of Student Veterans of America, where he served as treasurer. These organizations offered resources and a community that helped him adjust to student life…
