WAVERLY, Neb. — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday morning at the intersection of N. 162nd Street and Bluff Road, just east of Waverly, Nebraska. At 9:20 a.m. on Nov. 20, deputies and emergency medical units responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a Lancaster County Engineering Department dump truck and a Mitsubishi sedan.
Initial investigations suggest the dump truck, traveling southbound on N. 162nd Street, failed to stop at a posted stop sign, colliding with the westbound Mitsubishi. The impact pushed the sedan into a southwest ditch. Foggy conditions were reported at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital in critical condition. A dog in the Mitsubishi was taken to a Waverly veterinarian for care…
