LSO Raising Concerns After Four Stop Signs Stolen

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is trying to figure out who stole stop signs from four intersections. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the signs were taken at North 112th Street and Alvo Road, Northwest 12th Street and West Rock Creek Road, 176th Street and Pioneers Boulevard and North 98th Street and Fletcher Avenue between November 19-25.

“The stop signs are being taken with the posts left behind, which causes the county engineer’s office to go out and replace each one,” Houchin says. “These thefts affect motorists, emergency vehicles and school buses.”

In addition to the time and money it takes to replace the signs, Houchin is worried about public safety. “If you see someone messing with a stop sign, call us immediately and if you see that a sign is missing let us know so that we don’t have anybody getting seriously injured or killed…
