Seeking Affordable Vet Care for Cat with Urinary Issues in Chicago

A Chicago resident has recently expressed concerns over the high cost of medical treatment for their cat. The feline was displaying signs of discomfort while using the litter box, prompting the owner to seek veterinary assistance. Initial tests, including x-rays and exams, were quoted at approximately $1,500, a sum the owner could not afford. A more affordable urinary exam was conducted for $400, revealing the presence of ammonium phosphate crystals, commonly known as struvites. The vet prescribed a specific diet, Hill’s C/D (Urinary Care) Diet, Feline, Dry and Wet food, costing an additional $150. The owner was advised to return for a follow-up exam in two to four weeks.
