The Lincoln Police Department will be conducting a DUI enforcement project throughout December that is focused on preventing impaired driving during one of the busiest travel and celebration periods of the year.
“Additional officers will patrol during nights and weekends, when alcohol and drug impaired driving crashes most often occur,” says LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas. “Impaired driving continues to be a factor in a significant number of serious injury and fatal crashes in Nebraska each year.”
Nationwide, December is one of the highest-risk months for alcohol-related traffic deaths, particularly around weekends and holidays. Thomas says this specialized enforcement campaign is made possible through a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office and coincides with its national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown…
