University of Nebraska Board of Regents to consider eliminations, department mergers

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents will meet at Friday morning in Lincoln and will consider the elimination of four departments at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, as well as the consolidation of four other departments into two interdisciplinary schools.

The programs at risk include the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, the Department of Statistics, the Department of Educational Administration and the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design.

Regents will also vote on a proposal to merge the Department of Entomology and the Department of Plant Pathology. A second proposal would merge the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication and the 0Department of Agricultural Economics…
