Dozens of Disorderly Vehicles Towed Under Lincoln’s Nuisance Ordinance

It’s been eight months since the Lincoln’s nuisance vehicle ordinance went into effect on April 15 and in that time LPD has deemed 88 vehicles ‘disorderly vehicles’ and towed them. That’s an average of 11 vehicles per month.

“Our top months were May, the first full month, when we towed 19 vehicles,” says Public Information Manager Erika Thomas. “In June, we towed 17 and in December, we’ve only towed four.” Thomas says they are seeing those numbers go down, which is likely connected to the weather.

“As a reminder, vehicles will be towed but can be immediately released after the first violation, along with receiving a written notice,” Thomas says. “Vehicles will be impounded for 10 days on the second or subsequent violations.”…
