LINCOLN, Neb. — Lincoln Parks and Recreation has announced the arrival of a new female bison at the Pioneers Park Nature Center. The bison, named Patty, was donated by the Crane Trust and joins the existing herd at the Pioneers Park Nature Center.
Patty was born in 2018 and was relocated after her mother chose to care for her twin brother exclusively. The Crane Trust, which aims to expand grazing opportunities for reproductive females, facilitated her move.
Jamie Kelley, Nature Center coordinator, expressed excitement about Patty’s arrival and gratitude for the donation. “As our herds grow, so does our partnership,” Kelley said. She noted the curiosity of the existing bison, stating, “They came right up to her. They were smelling each other. Like I said, they were grunting. It was really interesting to see their behaviors and their interactions.”…
