District Court Judge Jodi Nelson announces retirement effective Jan. 31, 2026

LANCASTER COUNTY, Neb. — District Court Judge Jodi L. Nelson of the 3rd Judicial District has announced her retirement, effective Jan. 31, 2026. Judge Nelson has served Lancaster County since her appointment in 2006. In her announcement letter to the governor, she expressed her gratitude, stating it was a “joy to work with my colleagues on the bench both here in Lancaster County and throughout the state, as well as the talented lawyers who have practiced before me.”

Throughout her tenure, Judge Nelson was recognized for her commitment to improving the judicial system. In 2023, she was commended for her work as a member and later chair of the Probation Services Committee.
