LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — Christmas trees that once lined store lots waiting for buyers now need to be cleared away. One local Boy Scout troop has made this post-holiday cleanup their mission for more than a decade.
Scouts with Troop 8 in Lincoln have spent the past 11 years taking time away from family during the holidays to collect unsold and used Christmas trees throughout the city.
The conservation program began in Omaha in 1998 before expanding to Lincoln. Scouts in Kearney have also joined the effort, bringing the tree recycling service to central Nebraska…
