Weather Alert Day Sunday for Reduced Visibility from Snow and Wind

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A Weather Alert Day is in effect Sunday as a winter system brings snow combined with winds gusting over 50 mph during the morning and afternoon hours.

The combination of snow and strong winds will create significantly reduced visibility, making travel hazardous.

What to Expect Overnight and Sunday

Precipitation will begin overnight tonight as rain, with a brief change to freezing rain possible before transitioning fully to snow Sunday morning. This means some icy conditions are possible on untreated surfaces early Sunday before the precipitation shifts entirely to snow.

A Winter Weather Advisory and a Wind Advisory are in effect Sunday as minor snow accumulations are possible with gusty winds likely.

When it’s all said and done, a trace to 2″ is possible with highest amounts in northeastern areas.

Temperatures will fall steadily throughout Sunday, starting in the low 30s in the morning and dropping into the 20s by afternoon.
