Already shorthanded Nebraska offense could be without another key cog

With guys like Emmett Johnson and Dylan Raiola out for Nebraska football when they take on Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl, there were expectations that players like Nyziah Hunter could announce their presence with authority. Unfortunately, the Huskers’ pre-game injury report is splashing cold water on the idea that the young receiver could be a real standout against the Utes.

Since transferring to Nebraska last offseason from California, Hunter has emerged as Nebraska’s top receiver. He finishes his 2025 season with 43 catches for a team-high 617 yards and five touchdowns.

However, this game could be handy for Hunter to get better synergy with Nebraska starting quarterback TJ Lateef. Especially since it’s expected the Huskers’ attack will look different now that offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen is moving to an approach based more on dual-threat QBs.
