Nebraska strikes gold in the portal with first massive transfer win

Not long after the Nebraska football team suffered its first big Transfer Portal loss, it scored a massive win. Kenny Minchey emerged as the Huskers’ top target at QB just as the portal was opening, and now Matt Rhule and his crew have secured the commitment.

Minchey is an intriguing add for the Cornhuskers because he’s considered one of the top QBs in the portal, despite getting no starts and very little playing time in his three seasons at Notre Dame. However, the dual-thread quarterback was one of the top players at his position in his class and came very, very close to seizing the starting job in South Bend this fall.

Nebraska fans who might be annoyed that the Huskers didn’t land someone with a more proven track record need only to look at what another ND career backup did once he got out of South Bend’s shadow.
