Lincoln police report 14 EBT card fraud cases since start of 2026

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Lincoln Police Department has reported 14 cases of fraud involving Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards since Jan. 1, with a total estimated loss exceeding $8,600. This amounts to an average loss of more than $615 per case. Victims have been advised to contact the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to dispute the charges and request refunds.

The police department is urging EBT card users to regularly check their transaction history for any signs of fraud and to report suspicious activity immediately.
