Nebraska nonprofit seeks court order to stop Secretary of State from handing voter data to feds

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A Nebraska nonprofit is seeking a court order to stop Secretary of State Bob Evnen from releasing sensitive voter information to the federal government.

In court documents filed Wednesday in Lancaster County District Court, Common Cause Nebraska and Omaha voter Dawn Essink are seeking a temporary restraining order prohibiting Evnen from releasing the voter data.

“Secretary Evnen should continue to refrain from giving any private voter data to the DOJ while this case plays out in court,” said Gavin Geis, Common Cause’s Nebraska executive director. “If he can’t withstand the political pressure from Washington, we are asking the court to force him to stop.”…
