LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Investigators have determined the cause of the fire that destroyed a multi-unit apartment in downtown Lincoln last month.
According to Lincoln Fire and Rescue, the blaze that destroyed the Apollo apartments along 11th Street was caused by an electrical failure in the attic. Investigators think the fire burnt for some time before anybody noticed.
One former tenant told 10/11 News that animals would routinely chew through cords in the attic, and LFR speculated that such a cord likely caused the fire. Though officials weren’t positive, they determined no other electrical sources in the home were at fault…
