LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) said Wednesday that more than 130 households in Nebraska have been affected by EBT fraud and card skimming cases.
A majority of the recent fraud cases are occurring in the Lincoln region, but have impacted nearby areas as well. The Lincoln Police Department said there have been 32 cases with 35 victims of EBT fraud, with an estimated loss of $15,000.
DHHS said investigators have visited multiple retail locations throughout Nebraska and have confiscated three skimming devices to date.
By working with Nebraska’s EBT vendor, Fidelity Information Services (FIS), DHHS identified and blocked two out-of-state retailers in New York and California to prevent them from stealing additional funds from Nebraska EBT cards, DHHS said…
