LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A former Lincoln Police Department staff member who spent more than two decades focused on homeless outreach has joined Centerpointe as the nonprofit’s new director of community outreach.
Melissa Ripley resigned from LPD last week after 26 years of service, most recently as the department’s homeless outreach coordinator. She filed a lawsuit against the city in 2021.
“I think it’s important to remember that these are our neighbors as well and even though it looks a little different than maybe you and I live they still deserve the same dignity, rights and attention,” Ripley said. “I’ve just always felt that the most vulnerable in our community need a voice.”…
