Former Nebraska Volleyball Coach John Cook recently opened up on Coach Dani Busboom Kelly’s role as a captain for the team. Before leading the Nebraska Volleyball team as a head and assistant coach, Busboom Kelly competed for the Big Red team from 2003 to 2006.
She initially started playing as a setter for the team and transitioned to libero in her final year in 2006. During her course as a player for the Huskers, Coach Cook led the team. In an interview with Hurrdat Sports, the former Huskers coach reflected on Busboom Kelly’s ability to lead the team. He opened up about the instance when the setter-turned-libero was voted as the captain for the team. In the same year, she led the team to the National Championships title, showing her leadership qualities.
“I knew Dani since she was in ninth grade, but you know the story is her senior year,” Coach Cook said. “You know I made her change positions and that team elected her captain, and that’s when I saw and we started talking about Dani ‘Do you want to coach?’”…
