Nebraska stacks DB help as portal rebuild includes second commit of the weekend

It’s been a busy weekend for the Nebraska football team as it attempts to rebuild its defense. Not only did the Huskers score their defensive line coach, but they’ve hauled in two defensive backs in Victor Evans III and Jasin Shiggs.

Evans comes to the Huskers by way of Florida International. He saw his most extensive action for the Panthers in 2025 as he recorded 42 tackles and 4 passes defended.

Shiggs is not only the second commitment of the weekend for Nebraska, but he’s also the third defensive back the Huskers have landed through the transfer portal. He’s also the most under-the-radar, but the Towson product had plenty of impressive numbers in the FCS that should excite NU fans…
