I-80 Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Three Suspects in Omaha ATM Robbery

Three people accused of carrying out an ATM robbery in Omaha were arrested Wednesday after a routine traffic stop along Interstate 80 in Lancaster County, according to law enforcement officials.

A deputy with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office stopped a Nissan Altima around 2 p.m. near 56th Street and I-80 for unsafe passing and changing multiple lanes. During the stop, the deputy detected the smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, which had three occupants.

Authorities said the driver, Jacob Wallace, 22, consented to a search of the car. During that search, deputies discovered three backpacks containing approximately $140,000 in cash, raising immediate suspicion about the source of the money.
