Ohio man accused of stealing more than $20,000 from Nebraska Public Service Commission

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – An Ohio man has been charged with theft after authorities say he used a fraudulent payment portal to steal more than $20,000 from the Nebraska Public Service Commission.

Robert Parker, 38, of Toledo, Ohio, was charged with theft by unlawful taking on January 13, 2026, according to court documents filed in Lancaster County.

How NSP says the scheme worked

According to an affidavit filed by Nebraska State Patrol Investigator William Fankhauser, Parker allegedly made two fraudulent purchases through the PSC’s online payment portal in June 2024.

On June 8, 2024, a $9,751.75 purchase was made on the pay portal, with the funds directed to a Cash App account in Parker’s name. Two days later, on June 12, 2024, a second fraudulent purchase of $10,751.75 was made through the same method…
