Lincoln woman sentenced in deadly hit-and-run of child’s father

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A Lincoln woman convicted in a deadly hit-and-run involving her significant other was sentenced Thursday.

Cindy Martinez, 24, was sentenced to 180 days in the Lancaster County Jail for false reporting, a Class I misdemeanor. She was given one-day credit for time served.

Martinez was initially charged with failing to stop and render aid during a serious injury or death, but she took a plea deal in November to lessen the charge.

Lincoln police said Martinez turned herself into the Lancaster County Jail two days after 22-year-old Alejandro Murillo was killed near North 37th Street and Cornhusker Highway on May 14, 2024…
