Minnesota coach admits Nebraska took away the Golden Gophers’ ‘spirit’ in blowout

The Nebraska basketball team didn’t play particularly well in the first half of its game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday. However, the team went on some epic runs in the second half in order to get their 20th win against zero losses this season.

After the game, Gophers’ head coach Niko Medved confirmed what it looked like on the court. The Huskers didn’t just make a run in the second half. They overwhelmed the Gophers and beat them down en route to outscoring them 46-21 in the second half, and at one point, going on a 37-10 streak.

“I thought for the first time down the stretch they kind of looked like they lost their spirit,” Medved said about his team after the game. “I thought Nebraska really kind of broke us here (Saturday). That hasn’t happened to this team in a long time.”
